STATEMENT BY TRURO RACEWAY LTD.

Officials at Truro Raceway would like to thank the community, horsemen, and friends for the outpouring of support received over the past several weeks as they have worked to establish Truro Raceway as its own business moving forward.

To that end, a Board of Directors has been formed and has taken steps to create business plans, negotiate contracts, and maintain access for customers. The Board will consist of four directors, a president, and a secretary-treasurer. One of the four directors will always be the sitting THHOA President as elected by its membership. The current Board of Directors and staff is as follows:

President of the Board, Anthony Stymest
            Vice President, Arnold Hagen
            Secretary-Treasurer, Jeff Skinner
            THHOA Director, Steve Morton
            General Manager, Kelly MacEachen
            Accounts, Darlene Cail

Next steps:

  • Truro Raceway is working with the Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board towards a quick resolution in negotiating the use of the CA Douglas Grandstand. A lease has already been signed with regards to the track, infield, barnyard, and associated parking areas.
  • A new website has been launched at www.truroraceway.ca and will continue to have information added. Fans will also notice a return to Truro Raceway’s social media presence.
  • Truro Raceway Ltd will publish details as they are confirmed including: race dates, simulcast information, upcoming projects, and maintenance. The anticipated start to the racing season is April 27th pending the availability of race horses.

The horse owners and racing fans have been most supportive during this transition process.  We appreciate their patience and look forward to an exciting season of harness racing at Truro Raceway.
