Truro was founded in 1760 on the site of an earlier Acadian community by Scots-Irish immigrants. With the coming of the railway in the 19th century, Truro’s strategic location resulted in an economic boom. Many of the homes built in this period survive, and Truro now boasts some of the best-preserved Victorian streetscapes in Canada.
